Contents: You will also need perming rods, a plastic comb, a non-metal dish, plastic gloves, non-metal hair bands, a clock or timer, cotton wool, petroleum jelly and towels. Follow Pin-up's styling guide included in each box to create different results, with simple step-by-step instructions for use. The table below provides an easy reference for the size of curlers required: Perming Rod Sizes: Tight curls: 6.25 mm 1/4" Soft waves: 12.5 mm 1/2" Body & volume: 18.75 mm 3/4" Instructions for Use:Prepare Hair: Shampoo and rinse hair thoroughly using a mild shampoo. Do not use 2-in-1 shampoo or a conditioner, as they can interfere with the effect of the perming lotion. Towel dry the hair. Comb hair and divide into 6 sections, fastening each with rubber bands or plastic clips as in diagram 1. Wind Hair: Starting with the neckline section using your smaller size perming rod, take a section of hair no wider than the perming rod. Comb the hair through and fold an end tissue in half and slide it over the tips to keep them flat. Place the perming rod at the end of the tissue and wind under firmly but gently and fasten close to the scalp, as in diagram 2. Wind all of the perming rods in the same way, ensuring they are well secured. For the best effect, use as many perming rods as you can. When all your hair is wound, it should resemble diagram 3. Note: If you are using Pin-up End Curl, wind your hair only as high as you want it to curl. Apply Waving Lotion: Before applying the waving lotion, protect the skin around the hairline with petroleum jelly and a strip of cotton wool. Put on your plastic gloves and protect your clothing. Take the Waving Lotion bottle (part 1) and pour the contents into the dish. Work up a foam with the sponge and apply to each perming rod in turn until they are all shining wet. After 10 Minutes: To check if your curl has taken satisfactorily, partially unwind one of the front perming rods. Push the perming rod back towards your head and look for a definite S-shaped wave as in diagram 4. If your hair forms a definite S-shape, then it is ready to rinse. If no S-shape is apparent, re-wind the perming rod and check again every 5 minutes up to the maximum time shown in the table below. Timing Guide: Coloured/Delicate hair: 10-20 minutes Normal hair: 30 minutes Hard to wave hair: 40 minutes Note: These times are average times. Your hair may need a shorter or longer time before the S-shape has formed. On normal hair only, if you prefer to apply Waving Lotion as you wind the hair, you should subtract 10-15 minutes from the above times. Rinse Hair: Remove the cotton wool. Leaving the perming rods in the hair, rinse them thoroughly with plenty of warm water for at least 5 minutes on short hair and 7 minutes on long hair. To remove excess water, pat dry with a towel. Refasten any loose perming rods. Applying the Neutraliser: Screw the applicator pipe onto the Neutraliser bottle (part 2). Turn it away from your eyes and shake it until it forms a rich, clean foam. Alternatively foam up the Neutraliser with a CLEAN sponge (not the one used for the Lotion application). Before applying the Neutraliser, protect the skin around the hair line with petroleum jelly or a fresh strip of cotton wool. Using at least two-thirds of the foam (save the rest) cover all hair completely, creating a cap of foam. Wait for exactly 10 minutes. Unwind and Re-Neutralise: Remove all perming rods and end tissues carefully, taking care not to stretch or disturb the curls. Gently massage the remaining Neutraliser into your hair with your fingertips. Wait for 3 minutes and then rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water. Styling: Your hair can be easily styled. Set, blow-dry or let it dry naturally. In order to maintain the curl, do not shampoo or style for 24-48 hours. |
